An interest was
expressed at the 40th Class Reunion in creating a perpetual scholarship to be
awarded to a Penncrest High School student at graduation. It seems
somewhat traditional to present a gift on such a momentous occasion, but it is
also an opportunity to give something back to the school that most of us
attended for six years.
The suggestion that
we raise funds to create a Class of 1963 Scholarship was received positively,
and we are going forward with plans to establish the fund. The Penncrest
High School Scholarship Foundation was incorporated in 2004. This allows
our contributions to the fund to be tax deductible.
For a perpetual
annual scholarship of $1,000, we should raise at least $25,000. This can
be accomplished through one time contributions, or pledges that might take the
full 10 years to complete.
